Do I need to register for a space?
You do not need to register for SWOP #5!

How do I get to the SWOP! venue?
SWOP #5 will be held at outside Home Club [map].

 Why should I go?
Lots of reasons! It’s a good excuse to spring clean your wardrobe, get some new items, and a non-wasteful way of regenerating your wardrobe!

What can I bring?
We are now accepting clothes, accessories, shoes, CDs, books and DVDs.

For clothes: you are encouraged to bring lots of stuff, however please make sure that the items you are bringing are in good condition and can still be worn. Please do not bring grubby, torn, smelly, or worn-out stuff that nobody would want to wear. Ratty and holey PE T-shirts are definitely not welcome ;)

How much stuff should I bring?
You need to bring at least 5 items to participate. You are also encouraged to bring as much stuff as you like but as mentioned above, they should all be in good condition.

How will the swops work?
We will take your clothes and sort them by type. You can then browse through the various piles of items and take as much as you want.

Really ah? Can take as much as I want?
Yes, just make sure you take what you need or really want. We do draw the line at people taking clothes just for the sake of getting “free” stuff so please exercise restraint. This means no huge-ass suitcases :)

Do I have to pay anything to get in?
Yes, you have to pay $5 at the door. Proceeds, after covering event costs, will go to charity.

Where will the money go to?
You will get to support at least two different charities at each SWOP!. The proceeds from each event will go towards a different charity, and leftover clothes will be given to the Salvation Army.

Past beneficiaries include Migrant Voices, Acres, Mercy Relief and Transient Workers Count Too.

Are men / menswear welcome?
Definitely. This is an all-inclusive event :)

  69. Hi, What time should I be there, and when can I take back the unwanted stuff (although I really hope there won’t be)? I’m not that keen about dumping my clothes at the Salvation Army. Assuming that I arrive to drop my things, then I leave, when would be the best time to return and see how much has been taken?
    And do you really think we don’t need to register? I think that publicity in Urban really did a lot, and you can expect hundreds of people at least at the next few swops!

  168. hey audrey, just to clarify: the stalls at the previous SWOP weren’t under us. at swop #3, a separate organiser of a flea market gave us space.

    if you want to sell stuff on 22nd Sept, you will have to ask the organisers of the Tunnel Party, as the flea market won’t be done by SWOP. try contacting terence at plasticblackspecs@hotmail.com .
