SWOP on Facebook!

September 16, 2007 - No Responses

Hi all,

Just a quick post to say that:

1. We are on Facebook, so join the group and show your love!

Search for ‘We Love to Swop!’ in the Groups section, or if you’re already logged in, click on this link. (this is a Global network one, so anyone can join)

2. People have been asking if they need to register for this event. The answer is no, you don’t have to, as this time we’ll have lots of space. So bring as many friends as you like!

3. We are still looking for volunteers, if you’d like to help out please let me know! You’ll be paid a token $5 and get first dibs on stuff during your shift.

4. Tunnel Party is still going on as far as I know, but we’ll only know for sure next Friday thereabouts. Don’t forget to check your e-mail on Saturday morning for a final confirmation!

Thanks!!

Hi everyone,

I bring good tidings: SWOP #4 will be held at the upcoming SeptFest Gig (formerly known as the Tunnel Party) on 22nd Sept!

As usual, please bring at least 5 items (but more if you can!) and $5 to participate.

Proceeds will be going to arts-related charities this time: the Substation and Music for Good.

*** SWOP #4 at the SeptFest Gig!***
Date: Saturday 22nd Sept
Time: 4.30 pm to 7 pm
Venue: Space next to the Fort Canning Tunnel (between SMU & the National Museum). [map]

**The SeptFest Gig (formerly known as the Tunnel Party) has been confirmed! So see you there!**

Other Notices/Info:

- Part of the Substation’s month-long festival SeptFest, the Tunnel Party will be a carnival-esque event with flea market stalls, yoga lessons and rock gigs. Check out the details at the Septfest website.

- WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! You will be put on half-hour shifts, and basically help me sort out the stuff. Please email me for details.

- If you’re a newbie to SWOP, please read the FAQ section.

- Spread the good news! Forward this email to all your friends, and post this on your blog or your favourite forum! The more people who come for SWOP, the better the pickings for everyone :)

SWOP #4 in September

August 11, 2007 - 5 Responses

Hello all, just a quick clarification. In case anyone’s wondering, there will be no SWOP at the next Flea Fly Flo Fun event happening in August.

But fret not, we will be collaborating with the organisers for the Substation’s SeptFest, so watch out for that! This time, Swop will be held outdoors in a big carnival setting (don’t worry, there will be contingency plans in case it rains). Volunteers will be needed so for those who contacted me about helping out, I’ll let you know what the plan is as soon as details are confirmed. Stay tuned!

New Record Set For SWOP!

July 1, 2007 - 8 Responses

Hi everyone!

First things first, an apology to those who did not get the e-mail about the change in hours for SWOP! yesterday. It was a last minute decision to shorten the hours to 4 to 8 pm due to the lack of manpower, and we are very sorry that a handful of you did not get it and arrived late. Still, we hope you got a few nice items :)

In any case, thank you all for coming down for SWOP #3 and making it a huge success! The good news is that we have topped all our previous collections, with a grand total of $421! As mentioned, the proceeds will be going to Club Rainbow and the SPCA, and leftover clothes will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Please note that the next SWOP is scheduled for some time in September; look out for it! We will be needing volunteers for that one so if you would like to help out for that, do let us know.

Lastly, if you have any feedback on SWOP, that would be much appreciated. Did you like the Home Club venue? Should we shorten our hours from 4 hours to 3 hours? Which charities can we donate to at the next SWOP? What are some ways it could be done better? Don’t hesitate to e-mail me at wessatong [at] gmail [dot] com.

Thank you! :)

SWOP #3 This Saturday!

June 25, 2007 - 5 Responses

EDIT: Please note that Swop will now be taking place from 4 to 8 pm, and that the location within Home Club has changed slightly. For more details, please read below!

The next SWOP draws near, yay!

fleaflyjune

To recap, SWOP #3 will be part of the Flea.Fly.Flo.Fun flea market happening this Saturday at Home Club. Look out for us inside the club; the swopping area will be at the dancefloor. We will be located outside the club, at the outdoor area behind the pool table.

Remember, all you need to bring is $5 and at least 5 items to swop!

Venue: Home Club, at The Riverwalk (20 Upper Circular Road, B1-01/06) [map here]

Date: Saturday, June 30th

Time: 4pm to 8 pm (but the flea market will go on till 10 pm)

Just some news and a few gentle reminders:

1) Our two selected charities for cash donations will be going to Club Rainbow and the SPCA. Thanks to Wenqi and Lynn for their suggestions! Leftover clothes will be donated to the Salvation Army as usual.

2) Please only bring items which are in good condition and fit for wearing. This means no old holey school T-shirts and mouldy pillowcases! (yes, those were just some of the items which we had to weed out at the last SWOP!).

3) While you are welcome to take as much as you want, please exercise discretion and take only what you really need or want. :)

4) New to swopping? Please read through the FAQ section.

That’s about it - looking forward to seeing all of you on Saturday, and have a great time swopping!
