Hi! My name is Tessa, and thanks for checking out SWOP!
This is a private swopping event in Singapore that allows people to trade their old items – usually clothes and accessories, although we do get DVDs and books too – while donating to charity at the same time. You pay $5 and bring at least 5 items – it’s that simple!
SWOP! has been held in Singapore for about two years now and has been featured in the local press several times. It is directly inspired by Swap-A-Rama-Rama by Wendy Tremayne. I attended one event in New York in 2005, and was instantly hooked on swopping.
Recycling and swopping clothes is great because you get to empty your wardrobe and get new things to wear – for absolutely free! It is also an ethical and environmentally-conscious way of getting new clothes, which cuts down on waste. Lastly, it also ensures that it benefits people in need as well, by donating all admission fees to charity.
As this event is only open to friends in our e-mail list, why not join us? Just drop an e-mail to wessatong [at] gmail [dot] com and you’ll not only be kept in the loop, but also gain access to other parts of the site that are password-protected for friends only.
Thanks!
